Description ELECTROCOR 2009 is the third international conference in this successful series, which aims to present and discuss the state-of-the-art in computer simulation of corrosion, electrochemical processes and the electric and electromagnetic fields associated with them.

Modern Industry applies a wide range of electrochemical processes to protect against corrosion, provide surface treatments and to manufacture products. This conference is focused on the computer modelling of these industrial processes and techniques. Engineering uses electrochemical processes to protect structures and systems against corrosion. Cathodic protection is widely used in the Maritime, Defence, Oil & Gas and Utility industries to control corrosion. The electrical and magnetic fields associated with electrochemical processes are also of signifi cant interest to engineers responsible for the performance of maritime systems, the operators of rail systems and owners of electrical transmission systems.

Electrochemical systems are widely used to deposit coatings on the surface of products and structures. The accurate prediction of the performance of the coating and the optimisation of the process is of major importance to manufacturing engineers. Electrochemical techniques are also used to form or fabricate a wide variety of different products.

The common theme of this conference is the development of computational models and their application in practice. Comparison of simulation with experimental measurements is actively encouraged as well as the presentation of case studies.

This conference will be of interest to naval, offshore, mechanical and electrical engineers as well as electrochemists and other scientists working in this exciting new field. It will also attract developers and computer modellers whose programmes are of primary importance to the advance of this new field of work and applications.

Conference Topics:
- Cathodic protection systems
- Modelling methodologies
- Electrodeposition and electroforming
- Modelling stress corrosion, cracking and corrosion fatigue
- Interference and signature control
- Electrocoating and plating
- Optimisation
- Detection and monitoring of corrosion
- Protection and control of corrosion

Conference papers are reviewed by members of the Committee and other colleagues and selected papers will be rapidly processed for publication in book form. In addition, all papers in the conference book will be permanently archived in the Transactions of the Wessex Institute on our eLibrary site, where they will be available to the international scientific community. Papers presented at Wessex Institute Conferences appear regularly in notable review, publication and databases.
