| Description |
Banking Consolidation has become a global phenomenon. Throughout the world, banking has been transformed from highly protected and regulated industry to competitive and deregulated industry. Many governments have relaxed regulatory and legal barriers within and across national boundaries and also across financial industry segments. The banking consolidation wave started in the United States during 1980s, followed by Europe, Japan and emerging economies including India during 1990s. Banking M&As (Mergers and Acquisitions) and consolidations has a potential for improving efficiency, productivity and competition in the industry. The current situation is characterized by an accelerated M&A activity, changing the banking structure and operational methods. With this background, ICFAI Business School (IBS) Mumbai is organizing an International conference on Banking Consolidation at World Trade Centre, Mumbai.
