Public perception of the industries is on the decline. Why? Because pharma’s attempts to increase share of voice backfired as physicians became overwhelmed with the number of reps calling on them and decided to significantly lower time spent on pharma companies’ attempts to promote their medicines.

Current economic conditions are causing governments to decrease their overall spending on medicines making patient access to medicines more restrictive.
Patents for major primary care medications are expiring with few new drugs in the pipeline
Downsizing of the sales forces is widespread as the industry looks to cut costs and adjust to the changing market
Companies are moving to specialty, hospital selling, and considering replacing reps with account managers to develop relationships
Innovative ideas and greater collaboration with marketing are encouraged as the industry looks for new approaches to reach the increasing number of key influencers
The industry needs to change the sales model and adjust to the changing customer environment. The strategic thought leaders and heads will gather at PharmaForce Europe 2008 to discuss how to take advantage of the opportunities these changes will bring to their organizations.
