Description The strain on our roads and public transport infrastructure is presenting numerous problems. Traffic congestion, unreliable and unsafe services relating to public taxi, railway and bus services are a constant, transport scheduling and public information is inadequate.
South Africa has no multimodal planning and comprehensive regulation and standards for ordinary minibus taxis and bus operators don’t exist, The global peak oil crisis contributes to the rising petrol prices and the urgent need for public transportation solutions is critical.
In addition, public transportation networks and infrastructure are underdeveloped and the need for a seamless, integrated system is huge.
IQPC’s conference on Public Transport Planning, Integration and Information aims to provide you with strategies and steps to improve the current transportation system through a series of case studies, knowledge and information from a range of expert speakers.
The critical issues that will be tackled at this conference include:

• Improving public access to transport and establishing how to improve public information systems
• Enhancing the economic benefits of an efficient and reliable transport system
• Improving safety and efficiency of public transportation
• Reducing the congestion on our roads, railways and other forms of public transport
• Finding alternative solutions for tackling the peak oil crisis which is a contributing factor to the strain on transport and energy infrastructure
• Developing an integrated transport system to suit the needs of the various commuter modes
• Getting updates on the Gautrain developments
• Finding out how integrated ticketing systems can work
