Department of Information Technology at Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology (V.I.I.T.), Pune has proposed to host the Conference on Advances in Usability Engineering, considering the need of a platform to get together the professionals, academia and students to discuss and share their experiences in the emerging field of usability.
Computing has become ubiquitous with the advent of wireless connectivity and powerful devices, which are available in all shapes, sizes and capacities. The convergence of computer, telephone, television and many other types of equipment has given birth to innovative applications for the masses. High-resolution multi-color displays, flexible user interface wizards and variety of tangible user interfaces have created new possibilities of interacting with computers.
In today’s competitive world, greater emphasis on user requirements research, user interface design and innovation has become an imperative need. Varieties of technologies and applications are being designed to serve wide range of users starting from housewives to farmers, and from illiterate to disabled users. In this context, the success of product is measured based on its usability and the quality of user experience imparted by the product.
Practitioners in the industry apply variety of processes and techniques for user research and design evaluation. Formation of teaching curriculum for HCI is very challenging, as it involves fusion of multiple disciplines with computer science. Proposed conference intends to consolidate the insights and experiences of usability practitioners, HCI researchers and academicians for mutual benefit.
Practitioners, researchers, academicians and students are invited to present papers based on case studies, projects experience, user interface designs, etc.
