Description The Institut de recherche Robert-Sauvé en santé et en sécurité du travail (IRSST) and Concordia University are pleased to invite you to participate in the 4th International Conference on Whole-body Vibration Injuries that will be held in Montréal, June 2-4, 2009. We intend to make this conference an event worth remembering.
This multidisciplinary conference will provide a unique opportunity to exchange information on the potential injuries associated with exposure to whole-body vibration and mechanical shock. Several studies have been conducted to quantify worker exposure to vibration and to monitor the health of exposed populations. Laboratory studies have been performed to investigate the transmission of vibration to the whole body and to monitor its effects. A range of mathematical models have also been developed to represent human reaction to whole-body vibration. There are now guides, standards and regulations intended to protect workers from excessive exposure to whole-body vibration and mechanical shock. Standards have also been proposed to minimize the transmission of vibration and shock to the whole body in the case of individuals who work in a sitting position. All these topics will be addressed in the context of this conference, part of a series of international conferences. The first conference was held in Southampton, U.K., in 1997; the second in Siena, Italy, in 2000; and the third in Nancy, France, in 2005.
Please take note of these deadlines:

November 3, 2008: Submission of brief abstracts
January 5, 2009 Notice of acceptance of abstracts
March 16, 2009 Submission of manuscripts (extended abstracts)

Looking forward to seeing you in Montréal!
