Description The 2nd annual biofuels: Food vs. Fuel conference will once again provide an excellent platform for delegates to learn and discuss about the global debate surrounding the production of Biofuels and the food security issues.

Following the success of the inaugural Biofuels: Food vs. Fuel conference, Lejweng Communications will bring together key players involved in the industry, to continue the debate and possibly come up with ways of working around the issues in such a way that Biofuels are not viewed as a curse to our global society.

Soaring fuel prices and an increase in energy demand make power generation from biomass more economically competitive than ever before, but is it really worth the trouble, especially looking on the food vs. fuel debate and the concerns from UN food
organizations? Food vs. Fuel is the dilemma regarding the risk of diverting farmland or crops for biofuels production in detriment of the food supply on a global scale.

The debate is internationally controversial, with good and valid arguments on all sides of this ongoing debate. There is disagreement about how significant this is, what is causing it, what the impact is and what can or should be done about it. Join us on this 2-day forum and get a chance to participate on an intensive debate on the future of
Biofuels in South Africa. What should be adopted and what should be avoided? Should the concentration of the industry be on the 2nd generation biofuels?
Additional Information This conference invites everybody interested in Biofuels and Food Security to participate by sharing needs, experiences, questions, and project ideas.
