A famous quote says that "If you cannot measure it, you cannot control it". Mechanical measurements with its precision, clarity and nature of practicability have been setting standards. The mechanical engineers are required to be highly professional in using various measurements tools and make necessary changes in the parameters such as pressure, temperature, flow and speed to control the various processes. So to keep you updated on the recent trends, advancements and developments in the mechanical measurements the Mechanical Engineering Department at CIET is conducting a "Short Term Training Programme on Mechanical Measurements" (STTP on MM).

The participants can apply by sending a demand draft of Rs. 500/- (refundable after successful completion of course) with his/her name, designation, official address, e mail id and contact number written at the back of demand draft on the postal address given below with advance information by e-mail to the Co-ordinator. The duly filled registration form containing all details can be sent later. The brochure of STTP containing all details and registration form will be uploaded by January 20, 2009 at . Please note that the number of seats is limited to 30.

The Chitkara Institute of Engineering and Technology has been established by the Chitkara Educational Trust under the guidance of renowned academicians Dr. Ashok Chitkara and Dr. (Mrs.) Madhu Chitkara. The Institute is affiliated to Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar. The Institute is ISO 9001:2000 certified. It is running AICTE approved degree level courses in the disciplines of Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Electrical Engineering, and Postgraduate courses of MCA and MBA.

The Campus houses other premier institutions such as Chitkara College of Education for Women, Chitkara School of Planning and Architecture, Chitkara College of Pharmacy and Chitkara School of Hospitality, Technology and Management.

Faculty members from IIT Delhi, Scientists from C.S.I.O/B.I.S., Professors from Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh, Thapar University, Patiala and experienced faculty from C.I.E.T will be conducting the theory and practical sessions in this short term course. Special Lectures by experts from other reputed institutions and R&D organizations have also been scheduled. Hands-On sessions will be conducted in the Measurement Labs of CIET & CSIO by experienced and skilled faculty. Industrial visits will also be undertaken.

Professionals engaged in teaching (only AICTE approved colleges)/Industry/ R&D Organizations in the branches of Mechanical, Production, Industrial Engineering and in the relevant field can apply.

No fee would be charged from faculty of AICTE approved Engineering/Polytechnic Colleges and sponsored by competent authorities. However candidates are required to deposit caution money of Rs. 500/- (Refundable after successful completion of the course)

Boarding & Lodging will be provided in the Institution campus free of cost on first cum first serve basis.

The applicants working in AICTE approved Engineering/Polytechnic Colleges are eligible for TA/DA [restricted to IIIrd AC] as per AICTE norms.

The Institute is situated on Chandigarh-Patiala National Highway. The location is equidistant from Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula, Ambala and Patiala. It is just a 30 minutes drive from either of these cities. The closest rail link is available up to Chandigarh and Ambala Cantt (the closest air link is available at Chandigarh only). The nearby places worth visiting are The City Beautiful Chandigarh, Patiala and the hill stations of Shimla, Kasauli and Morni Hills. Chandigarh city is a hub of many R&D projects, academic and industrial institutions including: SCL, Terminal Ballistic Research Lab, Snow & Avalanche Studies Institute, BEL, Software Technology Park, C-DAC, Medical and Engineering Colleges, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Central Scientific Instruments Organization etc. The city also offers pleasing sights in Rose Garden, Topiary Park, Terrace Garden, Rock Garden, Museum and Art Gallery, Sukhana Lake, Capital Complex designed by Le Corbusier etc.
