The Ontario Association of Child and Youth Counselors and Jen’s Place Therapeutic Group Care is truly honoured
to present ‘Achieving Gold’ - Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the OACYC, its history and its achievements. Over the
past 50 years, Child and Youth Work in Ontario has expanded its professional competencies and strengthened its skills
to be considered the GOLD standard for working with the very special needs of children and youth. CYC’s are
found in such professions as early care and education, community-based child and youth development programs,
parent education and family support, school-based programs, community mental health, group homes, residential
centers, rehabilitation programs, pediatric health care and juvenile justice programs. (Child and Youth Care Education

The three-day Conference - ‘Achieving Gold’ - 50th Anniversary OACYC Child and Youth Care will offer CYC’s and
other professional an opportunity to come together, engage and explore, share expertise and experiences, and enhance
knowledge regarding CYC practice methods and models.
Participation
‘Achieving Gold’ is expected to draw approximately 500 - 600 participants from across Ontario and surrounding
provinces, becoming the largest OACYC conference yet! The 50th Anniversary Conference is being held in Toronto,
ON, which is home to many historical birthplaces, employers and educators of Child and Youth Work.
Speakers and Workshops
‘Achieving Gold’ will deliver speakers that are not only real-life champions in Child and Youth Work but who will
inspire us to continue to work toward, to advocate, to accomplish and to be proud of who we are and who we will
be in OUR future.
‘Achieving Gold’ will present workshops that will address gaps in knowledge, provide specific programming idea’s and
techniques and to promote strength-based, success-oriented programs that can be used in the variety of settings that
employ Child and Youth Workers.Posters, Exhibits, and Vendors
‘Achieving Gold’ will provide an opportunity for individuals and organizations to showcase innovative research,
activities or programmes through poster presentations, exhibits and vendor opportunities. These mediums can share
and celebrate the alternative successes of Child and Youth Workers with all the participants.
