PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Registered nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, paramedics, and other health care providers must diagnose and manage critical ECGs and arrhythmias in various practice settings. This program is designed to facilitate health care providers in obtaining or refreshing these practical skills. Deliberate practice, use of an audience response system, interactive discussions and faculty feedback, will enhance the learning experience.
OBJECTIVES:
1. Outline the steps in the evaluation of rhythm strips and 12-Lead ECGs.
2. Diagnose and manage abnormal 12-Lead ECGs including ischemia, myocardial infarction, conduction defects, long QT, Wolff-Parkinson- White, electrolyte imbalances and drug effects.
3. Diagnose and manage supraventricular arrhythmias including atrial tachycardia, atrial flutter, atrial fibrillation, junctional rhythm and re-entry tachycardias.
4. Diagnose and manage ventricular arrhythmias including, ventricular tachycardia, torsade de pointes and ventricular fibrillation.
5. Differentiate supraventricular tachycardias from ventricular tachycardias.
6. Diagnose and manage heart blocks.
