In collaboration with several local Turkish American organizations and with the support of the Turkish Ministry of Culture & Tourism and the Turkish Consulate General in Chicago, the Turkish American Chamber of Commerce & Industry – Midwest is organizing a “Medical Tourism in Turkey” Conference in Chicago in April, 2009. This is the first conference in the US introducing and promoting Turkey as an alternative Medical Tourism destination.

The event will be held at the Union League Club of Chicago, on April 16 th , Thursday, starting with breakfast and networking at 8:00 am, followed by two panel sessions between 9:00 am – 12:45 pm, and a Q&A/discussion period after 1:00 pm along with lunch. The afternoon will be allocated to special sessions and one-to-one private networking meetings. The main purpose of our Chicago event is to give the current facts, figures and information on global healthcare and Medical Tourism industry and introducing Turkey as a potential and alternative Medical Tourism destination where top quality affordable care can be combined with many holiday and tourism opportunities.

The conference is organized by the Turkish-American Chamber of Commerce & Industry-Midwest, in collaboration with the Turkish Healthcare Tourism Development Council, the Turkish American Tourism Council, the Healthcare Tourism Committee / TAIK / DEIK (Foreign Economic Relations Council), and several other local Turkish-American organizations in Chicago, including the Turkish-American Doctors Association of Midwest (TADAM) and under the auspices of the Turkish Consulate General's Office in Chicago.

Turkish Airlines Inc. is the main sponsor of the event, and with their support, TACCI-Midwest is bringing together expert panelists and health industry representatives both from Turkey and the US to inform our attendees about the current medical/health tourism related trends and issues as well as the accredited, highest-quality healthcare facilities and services in Turkey. Among our guests expected to attend the event are the members of the Turkish Government's Health and Tourism Ministries, the Healthcare Tourism Development Council, the Turkish American Tourism Council, DEIK members, representatives and directors of several JCI accredited Turkish medical facilities (such as Acibadem Healthcare Group, Anadolu Medical Center, etc.) as well as the representatives of health, medical tourism, insurance, and related industries, employer groups and HR divisions of major Midwest companies in the US.
The panel sessions will be presented by a group of distinguished speakers from Turkey and the US. Among panelists from Turkey we invited the Health Ministry Attaché; the founding president of the Turkish American Tourism Council and the Turkish Healthcare Tourism Development Council; the president of DEIK (Foreign Economic Relations Council) Healthcare/ Medical Tourism Committee; the marketing director of a JCI accredited Medical Center; a representative from the Health and Wellness Tourism industry; etc. Among the US speakers we invited are the COO and the General Counsel of the Medical Tourism Association and the editor of Medical Tourism Magazine; the President & CEO of Joint Commission International & Joint Commission Resources; the Director of the Health Industry Management Program, Kellogg School of Management & Professor of Medicine, Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University; representatives from an insurance industry and Deloitte Center for Health Solutions; directors of medical tourism facilitators; Turkish-American doctors; and patients who took medical trip to Turkey; etc.
