In this retreat Dr. Fu-Kiau will present traditional central African key concepts and philosophy based on the Bântu-Kôngo cosmology.
Dr. Fu-Kiau is one of the most distinguished and insightful scholars of African culture. Born in Maniânga, Congo; he was educated in both Western and African systems of thought. He is initiated into three major traditional “secret societies†with Lèmba as one of particular relevance because of the numerous African-based religions and practices derived from it here in the Americas. It influences the indigenous oriented worldview of:
• The Palo Mayombe in Cuba,
• The Candomble Angola in Brazil,
• The Garifuna of Honduras,
• The Congo of Loisa Aldea of Puerto Rico
just to mention a few.
This retreat is an introduction to the Kôngo initiation system of higher knowing and empowerment.
• African cosmology and philosophy among the Kôngo
• How are the Ngânga chosen?
• Religion and spirituality expressed through the concepts of Human Being and the Bio-Rope
• The “Receiver†in us
• Becoming community leader or healer
