On behalf of the Royal Institute of Navigation, London, UK and the Institute of Engineering Surveying and Space Geodesy, University of Nottingham, UK, I have a pleasure in inviting you to participate to the 2nd GNSS Vulnerabilities and Solutions 2009 Conference to be held on 2 - 5 September 2009 in Baska, Krk Island, Croatia.
This four-day event aims to gather GNSS experts and focuses on GNSS problems and vulnerabilities, as well as on developments aiming to improve the accuracy and reliability of GNSS.
The unique environment of Baska and its natural resources and rich history, combined with friendly hospitality will again create an inspiring atmosphere for ideas and knowledge exchange.
Two special sessions will be organised to address particular causes of GNSS vulnerabilities:
Space Weather and Ionospheric Effects on GNSS, and
Safety Critical Applications (concerning primarily SAR operations, emergency situation management, Intelligent Transport Systems and Location-Based Services).
In addition to these, the Conference will address other causes of GNSS vulnerabilities and solutions to these, including:
Navigation algorithms
Core GNSS system vulnerabilities
GNSS augmentation system vulnerabilities
GNSS interference and management
Tropospheric impact on GNSS
Multipath management
Design of user equipment
System integration issues related to vulnerability
User experience - applications
Abstract Submission:
Extended abstracts should be submitted to Dr Renato Filjar, FRIN by e-mail no later than 1 May, 2009, as described in the enclosed Call for Papers (http://tinyurl.com/coc5h4). A special Twitter channel has been opened at http://twitter.com/BaskaGNSS2009 for broadcasting the latest conference-related developments.
Paper Acceptance
A final decision regarding paper acceptance will be reached by 1 June, 2009. Authors of accepted papers will be notified of abstract acceptance and then invited to submit their paper(s) by 15 July, 2009. Papers need to be submitted in the same format as that used for papers published in the Journal of Navigation. Details will be available to download here shortly.

Accommodation & Conference Packages
Discounted delegate accommodation packages starting at EUR 300 have been arranged with the hotel, which also cover the conference reception, conference dinner, as well as all refreshments and meals during the Conference. There are a range of hotels on the complex. Fees for these packages are payable direct to the hotel. All delegates must therefore register with the hotel directly (e-mail: topic@hotelibaska.hr), as well as to complete the Conference registration form and pay the separate conference registration fee referred to below.
Delegates are advised to book their accommodation well in advance, as it is High Season in Croatia at the time of the Conference. For further information, including contact details for the hotel, please see the enclosed Call for Papers.
Registration
Registration fees for this Conference are £60 per delegate inclusive of VAT. To register for this Conference please complete a copy of the delegate registration form that can be downloaded here and return this by post, fax or e-mail to the RIN Director, as detailed on the form. Please ensure you have also arranged with, and paid direct to, the hotel your accommodation package as explained above.
