With auctioning of NDA land now well under way and a commitment to new nuclear generation pledged by all six of the major utilities, 2009 looks set to be an important year for nuclear new build in the UK. However, despite the progress of the Strategic Siting Assessment, Planning Bill and Generic Design Assessment, a number of questions continue to be raised over the role of the government, industry and regulator in delivering a fleet of new power stations on time and on budget.

For both the new build and also the decommissioning sectors, concern continues to grows over the impact of strict emissions reduction targets, regulatory asphyxiation and current economic turbulence on the lasting viability of nuclear power. Equally recent controversy surrounding the third runway at Heathrow serves as a vivid demonstration of the importance of effective stakeholder management, at both a national and local level.

Now entering its 4th successful year, the ASI and Marketforce's Nuclear Industry Forum continues to bring together the most senior decision makers from across the industry around an insightful and provocative agenda. Register as a delegate today and take part in the event shaping the debate for the nuclear industry as it enters this new and exciting era.
