It is with great pleasure that IMN returns to Chicago for the 8th Annual Illinois Public Finance Conference, held alongside the 4th Annual Illinois Public Employee Retirement Systems Summit.

The 8th Annual Illinois Public Finance Conference will bring together public finance investors, issuers and insurers from across the state of Illinois to exchange ideas and solutions concerning issues ranging from public-private partnerships (PPPs) to school funding and job growth and how each is impacting choices involving investment opportunities and outcomes. Conference discussions will include educational components involving financing tools and strategies, including ways to improve the RFP process and maintaining effective communication channels with investors, credit rating agencies and others. An Advisory Board of dynamic leadership has been formed to cultivate a relevant and timely agenda.

Much has happened within the past year in the financial markets, in historic elections and appointments; and Illinois continues to take a leadership role in how the country responds to challenges and victories.

This year our focus for both conferences will be on managing through the economic storm. We have found that both conferences manifest great thought leadership from the people who work together to administer Illinois’ financial progress. We look forward to hearing the insights of CIO’s, treasurers, trustees, public finance issuers, investors and insurers on the following panels.

• The Role of Municipal Finance in the Economic Stimulus Initiative
• Illinois Initiatives to Address the Fiscal Crisis
• Legislative Update: Pension Consolidation and Benefit Changes Proposed in State Budget
• Asset Allocation: Repositioning Assets in Response to 2009 Conditions
• Distressed Investing: The Potential for Great Return from Private Equity or Hedge Funds
• Infrastructure Investing: Federal and State Partnerships Designed to Benefit Investors
• Midway Airport: Preparing for the Future
• Aiming for 2016: What the Olympics Can Mean for Public Finance
• Finding Emerging Markets within State Borders: Converting Economic Development into Investment Opportunity

We gratefully acknowledge our advisory board for providing feedback to shape the agendas that we trust will serve you well in providing winning strategies and approaches to the current fiscal challenges.

We trust that you will mark your calendar for this day and a half event for education, networking and idea exchange to support your role in leading Illinois’ financial growth.
