Description

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the Food and Drug Law Institute (FDLI) are convening three two-day colloquia on personalized medicine. The first colloquium is scheduled for June 1-2, 2009 at AAAS headquarters in Washington, DC.

The colloquium will address the scientific discoveries, clinical applications, and regulatory changes that are necessary to develop new personalized treatments and their companion diagnostics. Other sessions will focus on electronic health records, reimbursement, education of patients and their care givers, and ethical, legal, and policy issues such as privacy, patients’ responsibility for their own health, and direct to consumer testing, among others. The series follows a successful program on personalized medicine that AAAS and FDLI convened in June 2008.

The colloquia series is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
