Description

The theme of the conference is “Education for Development in Hard Times” has a broad theme, to include the role of key stakeholders in educational development in Africa and beyond – to include academia, policymakers, teacher education, teachers unions, education departments, NGOs and other civil society structures.

The format of the conference will include full length papers, workshops, panel discussions, symposia, round table discussions and poster presentations. Abstracts of papers (max. 350 words) can be submitted to the conference organizers, Prof. Harold Herman and Jo-Anne Adams. The deadline for proposals is 31 July 2009.

Local and international scholars and agencies in the field of Comparative, International, Development Education, History and Sociology of Education are invited to attend and participate in sub-themes which will include, inter alia, education and economic austerity, development agencies, language of teaching and learning, teacher education policy and practice.
