Small & Medium Enterprise Developers (SMED) is the SME development arm of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce &Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) which was jointly established in collaboration with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF). The objectives of SMED are to strengthen the SME Sector and the organizations that support this sector, promotion of industrial growth and generation of employments.
SMED is organizing SME Machinery Exhibition 2009, a national level exhibition, for the 4th successful time in August 7 to 9, 2009 in line with the Ministry of Industrial Development. The theme of the exhibition is Technology for Rural, Micro and SME Development.
Objective of the Event
The main objective of the SME Machinery & Automobile Exhibition 2009 is to support the SME sector to enhance its technological capabilities to emerge itself as an efficient and competitive sector in the economy, and to prepare for the global market.
This exhibition will provide an opportunity for local and foreign machinery manufacturers, Research and Development Institutions and SME business development service providers to:
â€¢ Exhibit new machinery produced by them.
â€¢ Sell machinery/ accept firm orders for supply.
â€¢ Select and appoint local agents/ distributors.
â€¢ Negotiate and enter into joint ventures to manufacture machinery in Sri Lanka.
â€¢ Display and market processes and methods of production of goods and services.
â€¢ To acquire technical know how in order to redesign existing products, product diversification, quality improvement, and cost cutting.
Participation will be open to Sri Lankan and International organizations that are manufactures, suppliers and distributors of machinery and accessories, service providers to the SME sector and will be located in the following pavilions:

A series of seminars / workshops useful for SME representatives and entrepreneurs will be conducted in all three days on topics more relevant to the SME sector.
How to Register
Please return the enclosed Registration Form duly perfected preferably in BLOCK Letters to the Exhibition Secretariat, along with your participation fee, on or before 1st April 2008. Your booking is subject to receipt of the full payment.
Entry Requirements for Overseas Participants
Nationals of certain countries are exempted from Visa requirements and they may obtain visas on arrival which is normally valid for 30 days.
Each stall measures 3m x 3m complete with two lights. One 5/15 amp power connection, information counter and two folding chairs.
