Defeating the network in an unconventional warfare and asymmetric insurgency environment
- Counter asymmetric threats strategies (beyond C-IED)
- Vision/Strategy/Policy/Plans, warfighting and support concepts

Day 2

Syndicate on the Joint NATO / MK Defence opening session

- Countering Asymmetric Warfare (AW) threats, and counter suicide Bomber/IED attacks

- Assess strategic and operational requirements to defeat the Network

- Review of latest technologies, and procedures to counter insurgency

The aim of the syndicate is to provide a summery to NATO HQ during ISAF Brief on:

- Current and emerging Technologies.

- Integrate emerging counter-IED technologies into current tactics

Day 3

Attack the Network – Defeat the Device – Train the Force

- Countering IEDs at the strategic, operational and tactical levels

- Results of NIAG Studies in the field of airborne C-IEDs

- ACT’s 2009 programs; CIED WG, Doctrine, STANAG, Terminology, CoE, and training roadmap

- The Role of combined, collaborative training in C-IEDs

- Detection and neutralization of route threat

Day 4 (Half day)

Round table discussions & Industry Panel

- Standoff detection and disruption systems on the frontlines

- Asymmetric warfare integration in transformation and force development

- Training the forces in order to sustain combat readiness
- The Canadian perspective on C-IEDs
- Disrupters: Engineering Advancement in "Recoilless" Technology

Two Interactive Training workshops

The MK Defence Counter-Suicide Bomber Operations and Planning workshop introduces delegates to a number of scenarios in the form of case studies - as well as outlining the tactics, techniques and procedures necessary to assist operators/planners in the defeat of suicide bombers in both permissive and hostile environments.

Workshops content will include:

Introduction to the Psychology of Suicide Terrorism
Considerations for the formulation of counter-suicide bomber policy and doctrine.
Introduction to explosives and components used in suicide IEDs.
Global Suicide Bomber TTP’s
Pre-attack indicators associated with suicide terrorism.
Suicide bomber behavioral pattern indicators (BPI’s)
Device Marking Techniques during Assault IEDD Operations
Counter-measures deployment and considerations
Command and Control of an Assault IEDD Operation
Case studies: Terrorist use of IEDs during hostage barricade terrorism incidents (Building, Aircraft and Maritime examples)
