The objectives of this 4 day course are to provide attendees with a basic understanding of the tools, techniques and vocabulary of petroleum geologists. The concepts behind the application of geological principles as applied to the search for oil and gas will be emphasized throughout. Students will gain an understanding of the factors that control hydrocarbon generation and accumulation, the methodology used to explore for and develop hydrocarbon reserves, and data collection and interpretation techniques.

Attendees will gain a practical understanding of the principles used by petroleum geologists in the search for oil and gas. A key benefit will be an insight into how geologists approach problem solving. They will also learn the vocabulary and context of technical terms that are used in written reports and presentations they may attend.
