Vietnam’s only transport conference focused on Road and Rail infrastructure development returns better than ever in 2009. Viet Traffic is rebranded as Viet Transport 2009 to be held alongside with the ASEAN Transport Ministers’ Meeting as part of the Vietnam Transport Week with a broader and holistical coverage on the Vietnam's land transport industry. It will incorporate Viet Road and Viet Rail, giving more focus and importance on both road and rail industry.
Since the last conference however, there has been a downturn in the global economy but it is worth noting that Vietnam’s growth potential remains untarnished. Led by its export-oriented growth, Vietnam is expected to grow its GDP annually from 2008-2012 by 7.5%, only fractionally smaller from the previous five-year rate of 8.0%.
Factoring in steady economic growth, an ambitious transport infrastructure development plan and the dynamism of its foreign trade, Viet Transport 2009 Conference is the best platform to discuss the core issues dealing with Vietnam’s land mobility. This year, there will be increased concentration on viable Road/Rail Solutions for a developing economy like Vietnam. Having set the scene in 2008 for specific projects discussed with the key government agencies, it is now the time for burning questions on specific projects in 2009. Project financing issues in difficult economic conditions will be discussed with the aim of exploring different financing models appropriate for Vietnam.
