Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of Bricke Institute for Health (BIH), it is my honor to invite you to participate and submit your abstract for a presentation (oral, poster or paper) on any Public Health topic during the upcoming 1st West Africa Congress on Infectious Diseases and Africa Travel Medicine Conference (WACID-ATM 2009) scheduled to hold at NICON Luxury Hotels, Victoria Garden City, Lekki, South West of Nigeria 17th-20th November, 2009.
The congress will focus on the prevention of, and vaccine development for infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria, as well as others that affect historically underserved populations; the development, use, and sustainability of diagnostic tools and technologies; maternal, reproductive, child health; advocacy for raising awareness and promoting leadership for these issues; educating all institutional staff on the impact of infectious disease in correctional facilities, educating correctional healthcare staff about security issues that affect correctional health care; educating security staff about the importance of infectious disease control and correctional healthcare, offering tools, including best practice models for care, treatment, and prevention, for participants to emulate in their institutions and community programs; promoting collaboration among institutional security, health care, and community program staff to improve the control of infectious disease in the inmate population and identifying and overcoming barriers to infectious disease screening, care, and control.
I am certain that the Congress will be a superb opportunity for you to meet colleagues, share knowledge and create productive partnerships. For our confirmed speakers, the congress secretariat will bear the costs of Accommodation, Feeding, Conference Certficate, Conference Materials, etc) and 50% of transportation cost if coming from outside Nigeria and 100% if within Nigeria.
As you know, infectious diseases has continually surprised and challenged us. New diseases emerge, known diseases spread and common diseases become incredibly resistant to available drugs. As professionals in the field we need to be smart, creative and vigilant in order to meet the evolving challenges. Indeed we can only succeed in this task by working together: by actively exchanging ideas, by generously sharing resources and by constantly collaborating.
The purpose of the 1st WACID-ATM 2009 is to promote all of these interactive activities among thousands of international experts and practitioners to the highest possible degree. Bricke International is very excited that the Launch of the 1st International Public Private Partnership (IP3) for Infectious Diseases Eradication and the 1st Africa Travel Medicine (ATM) conference will be held in conjunction with the 1st WACID. This educational program will be hosted by the Africa Health Initiative Act Now Center and Athens Corporation, together with the Bricke Institute for Health.
I am honored to recognize our collaboration with the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Ministry of Health, NICON hotels, the Lagos State Government and Athens Corporation. In addition, I welcome the cooperation of our colleagues from societies representing individuals from countries in the Africa and elsewhere with great enthusiasm.
The final program of the 1st WACID will include 30 Plenary Lectures, more than 40 Symposia, 30 sessions devoted to oral presentation of selected abstracts, meet-the-expert sessions and poster sessions.I encourage you to show your support for the Bricke Institute's World Health Initiatives by making a presentation (oral, poster or paper) or exhibiting during the WACID 2009 Conference, and by taking advantage of this unique opportunity to be at the forefront of infectious disease eradication in the world.
