The 40th Union World Conference on Lung Health, organised by The International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases (The Union), will be held at the Cancún International Centre in Cancún, Mexico, from 3 to 7 December 2009.
The theme of the conference is “Poverty and lung health”. Sessions will explore the burden of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, asthma, pneumonia, tobacco- related and other lung diseases, as well as the health consequences of air pollution. The important medical, social and economic consequences of lung health in high-burden countries will also be discussed.
The World Conference attracts participants from more than 100 countries who debate these challenges and thus contribute to more effective, efficient and sustainable services, interventions and programmes. While most sessions will be in English, a parallel session in Spanish will also be held each day of the conference for Spanish-speaking delegates. Simultaneous translation is also offered for the plenary sessions.
