One can say that much of the modern Internet was built on Apache software: The Apache Web Server that started it all, the Tomcat server loading the majority of web apps today, Apache Hadoop that's changing how data is distributed and cached for the cloud, and more.

This year, the Apache Software Foundation (ASF) -- the all volunteer, not for profit organization that shepherds the development of these Apache technologies (and 100+ others) -- turns 10. In celebration of this, the ASF is bringing its US conference back to its original home in the Bay area, Nov 2-6.

In addition to the training and general conference sessions going on, ApacheCon will feature a ton of free events for the public. If you're local, consider stopping by to hack with Apache developers, network with technologists and business leaders from the hundreds of companies that have commercialized Apache software, or maybe to just toast Apache on this milestone birthday.
