Conference presenters DO NOT need to be from Michigan or member institutions. While many presenters are current or retired college faculty members or college students, other presenters come from non-profit organizations, for-profit research companies, governmental agencies, public libraries, K-12 Education, etc.

PROCEDURE
Abstracts are due November 30, 2009. Find the necessary forms and instructions at: http://www.alma.edu/michiganacademy/Annual_Meeting/Call_for_Papers.

Send completed abstract submission form and an abstract by email attachment to the Academy office at masalabstracts@alma.edu.

Section chairs and/or the Academy will notify authors of acceptance of papers in December 2009.

Registration and membership information will be emailed to the authors of all accepted papers from the Michigan Academy office and can be found on the website.

Proposals for special panels are welcome. Posters displaying graphical materials associated with research are welcome and are displayed concurrently with section meetings and listed in the program.

PRESENTATION
Presentations are usually at least 10–15 minutes each, followed by discussion.

PUBLICATION
Abstracts of papers presented at the conference are published in an issue of the Academy's journal, the Michigan Academician. Full papers are invited to be considered for publication in the journal. See the website for guidelines. Papers undergo peer review.

CONFERENCE REGISTRATION FEES (Also see required membership dues below) All presenters (faculty, non-student & student) must pay a conference registration fee. Early registration (by 1/26/10) is $60; Regular registration (1/27-2/16/10) is $80; Onsite registration is $100. ADDITIONAL REQUIRED DUES All non-student presenters must become members of the Academy. Annual dues for 2009-2010 are $65 for members affiliated with Academy member institutions, $80 for unaffiliated members, $45 for retirees if affiliated with an Academy member organization and $55 if not affiliated with a member school. Full membership includes a subscription to the Michigan Academician. Students receive a limited complimentary student membership with their registration to present. ACADEMY MEMBER INSTITUTIONS Presenters DO NOT NEED TO BE AFFILIATED with a member institution. However, those employed by member institutions pay lower membership dues.
