Over the years, we at Helping Hand Foundation (HHF) have delivered our message by educating and imparting knowledge. We bring about a social change by creating awareness about the underlying issues. We believe that knowledge alone liberates minds from cobwebs created due to lack of awareness.
Continuing with this mantra, we now turn our attention towards a broader and pressing aspect concerning our ecology and our industries. We propose to address issues such as Climate Change and Green House Gas emissions, Deforestation and Degeneration of Resources, Industrial Wastes and Carbon Emissions among others.
The problem specially ails industrialized and developing nations like ours due to our dependence on energy intensive manufacturing processes and strains from the demand and consumption side. India is the world’s fourth largest GHG emitter (China is first and the US second). These emissions are leading to climate change, which in turn is affecting farm output, making droughts, floods, irregular crop-cycles and raising the sea level.
Climate change cannot be controlled without a concentrated effort on the part of large developing countries like China and India. Increased funding would be needed to esp. from the private sector to provide this by switching over to greener technologies. As the world grows to understand these issues, there is increased inquisitiveness for these technologies, energy efficient processes, investments and the demand for greener products & services.
Hence, keeping pace with the need of the hour, we present a series of informative and enlightening events and seminars, all as pro bono initiatives under the “Knowledge. Information. Awareness Series” (KIA series).
First among many is a 3-day conference titled “Green Industrial Evolution India ‘2010”. This event, scheduled for the 13th, 14th and 15th of January 2010, proposes to cover issues like Climate Change & Sustainable Energy, the Business of Carbon Credits and a focused conference for pro-environment initiatives aimed at the Indian Textile Industry.
