| Description |
The Institute of Waste Management of Southern Africa herewith proudly announces that our 20th WasteCon™ flagship conference and exhibition will take place from the 4th to the 8th of October 2010. This premier showcase of best practice African waste management solutions will take place at Emperor’s Palace in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The theme of the conference is entitled “What is your Waste Footprint?” The amount of land required to dispose per capita of waste generated impacts hugely on our ecological footprint, each one of us is responsible for the waste that we generate. It is our social responsibility to be good to the earth and to reduce and control the amount of waste that we create. Changing our habits is crucial and by reducing the amount of waste we produce and reusing or recycling that which is inevitable, we will reduce the use of virgin materials, the energy needed to produce the materials and the amount of waste going to landfill sites.
The conference will take place over a period of three days with both plenary and parallel sessions. One of the most prominent highlights of the conference will be a technical tour that will take place on the last day of the conference. Details of this exciting tour will be revealed at a later stage so watch this space and make sure that you book your seat in advance as space will be limited.
We are also planning an astounding fun-filled social programme that will provide delegates, speakers, exhibitors and guests with world class networking and benchmarking opportunities. The social program also provides a perfect platform to meet up with old friends and to make new ones.
In addition, the all important exhibition floor will showcase the many new and not so new innovative products and services that service providers to the industry have to offer. The exhibition will also be opened to the public for the first time in the history of WasteCon™.
