Description

The reform of the EU asylum law acquis is ongoing with a view of achieving greater coherence in decision-making in order to avoid asylum shopping inside the EU. The Commission has already and will soon present a number of proposals launching the second phase of a more harmonised Common European Asylum System. This event aims at facilitating discussions by feeding into the debate on a number of proposed legislative instruments, such as:

- the Qualification Directive
- the Asylum Procedures Directive and
- the future role of the European Asylum Support Office.

The conference will also discuss the issue of mutual recognition of asylum decisions.

It is addressed to policy-makers at Member State level. It will bring them together with representatives of the EU institutions and practitioners from immigration services and specialised judges.
