The 2010 edition of this annual conference on the latest developments in European Family Law will focus on matrimonial property regimes and patrimonial aspects of other forms of union. Legal practitioners and academics will report on the current situation in several European jurisdictions. The discussion will include marital agreements and the proposal for an optional Franco-German matrimonial property regime.

Furthermore, the conference will offer an in-depth analysis of the proposal on the applicable law on matrimonial property regimes ("Rome IV") which is expected in Spring 2010. The objective of the seminar is to promote a far-reaching and thorough debate concerning the most important or complex issues inherent to the proposed Community instrument. The conference will provide a forum for debate between legal practitioners, experts in Member States' ministries and the European legislator on the consequences and the practical implementation of this instrument of European family law.

Finally, the state of play in the drafting of new legal instruments in the field of European family law and law of succession will be presented.
