About the Workshop

Research is an integral dimension of the Higher Education system in India. The process remains incomplete without dissemination of the results of the research work to the wider community through documentation and publication. An important criterion that determines the quality of research is the reputation of the journal in which it is published as the work will be seen as of high quality and reliable. This requires skill in scientific writing.

Scientific writing is an area in which academicians and researchers are seldom trained in; most of them find it an intimidating challenge to prepare their manuscripts for high-quality journals. Just like any other area of professional expertise, scientific writing is a skill that can only be perfected by constant and dedicated efforts. Experts’ guidance and inter personal interactions facilitated at this workshop forum would play a vital role to upgrade the skills of the participants in this professional venture.

The norms of scientific writing are somewhat discipline specific. Nevertheless, there are some common principles that are fundamental to all disciplines. University Grants Commission has included Scientific Writing as a core paper in the revised P.G. curriculum of Home Science. While offering this course, tracing appropriate practice based materials has been found to be difficult. This Workshop would help the teachers handling such courses and those interested in scientific documentation and publication of their research work in professional journals.
