Why this conference
This conference is an opportunity to explore the progress with measurement and collaborative commissioning of end of life care services. It will draw upon NCPC’s work along with that of the National Audit Office and NHS National End of Life Care Programme to discuss both policy and implementation in this challenging field. It will provide a forum to consider priorities from both benchmarking work and emerging practice. The conference is designed to support commissioners to develop their understanding of palliative and end of life care needs and commission accordingly, and for providers to reflect on how they can best develop their services in response to those needs. It will showcase practical examples where effective commissioning has led to more cost effective services.
This conference will
• Provide an opportunity to hear from some of the leaders and experts in collaborative
commissioning, measurement and end of life care
• Explore the importance of measurement and benchmarking from both commissioner
and provider perspectives
• Present some of the latest good practice through interactive masterclasses and panel
discussion and enable delegates to explore their priority areas
• This conference will present the results of the NCPC Survey on Funding for End of Life Care

• All involved in the commissioning of services for end of life care in health and social care, including
o Chief executives and directors of commissioning from primary and secondary care, public health directors
o End of life care leads from strategic health authorities, primary care trusts and local authorities
