Life Threatening Complications (HIT, Sepsis/Shock, GI Bleeds, DIC and More!)
Course Description: As acuity levels of patients continue to rise, today’s healthcare provider is confronted with patients developing life threatening complications with more and more frequency. This seminar challenges the attendee’s critical thinking skills as various complex patient situations are covered through comprehensive lectures and case studies.
Because nurses are the constant force at the bedside, it is imperative they understand the pathophysiology of these complications, are able to incorporate the laboratory and physical assessment findings into the presentation, and respond quickly. Each complication will include pathophysiology, clinical signs and symptoms, diagnostics and current treatment guidelines. New management strategies on the horizon are also discussed.
