About IWA

The International Water Association is a global network of water professionals, spanning the continuum between research and practice and covering all facets of the water cycle. Through IWA members collaborate to promote the development and implementation of innovative and effective approaches to water management.

The strength of IWA lies in the professional and geographic diversity of its membership - a global mosaic of member communities - including academic researchers and research centres, utilities, consultants, regulators, industrial water users and water equipment manufacturers.

IWA members from each of these communities represent the leading edge in their fields of expertise; together they are building new frontiers in the research and implementation of water and wastewater treatment technologies, within the framework of the total water cycle.
About the IWA Young Water Professionals Programme

Having acknowledged that the water sector is facing unprecedented workforce challenges with the age profile of workers been cited as a major cause for concern and the impending loss of knowledge through the retirement of many of its leaders, IWA created the IWA Young Water Professionals Programme to provide mechanisms to ensure that knowledge is not lost upon the retirement of personnel.

The IWA YWP Programme provides a range of activities, services and initiatives to young professionals and students in the water and wastewater sector under the age of 35. As well as engaging with YWPs, the YWP Programme also connects with employers, academic institutions and other professional associations to ensure that the future needs of the sector are understood and addressed and inter-generational dialogue is created to form links between senior professionals of the sector and young professionals.
