About the Conference
Rural household constitute 72% of the Indian population and that works out to 720 million customers. The rural India contributes 43% of the national income and is expected to increase to US$ 425 billion in 2010. According to a recent McKinsey survey, the rural market in India would grow four times from its existing market size. Already the growth has been witnessed in various business sectors that include FMCGs, consumer durables, automobiles, pharmaceuticals, telecommunication, insurance, DTH etc. Here arises an opportunity for the marketers to tap the Indian rural market by offering value driven products to increase their market share. The national conference aims to bring together the academicians, researchers, marketing practitioners and students in disseminating their knowledge in the field of rural marketing. They would be suggesting global practices that can be best suitable for improving the standard of living in the rural India.
About the College
K.S. Rangasamy College of Arts & Science is a part of KSR Educational Institutions. It was started in the year 1995 by the KSR Educational & Charitable trust. Lion. Dr. K.S. Rangasamy MJF., is the founder and president of the Trust. The college is situated in a serene campus of 350 acres on the Tiruchengode – Erode (State Highway), 12 km from Erode and 8 km from Tiruchengode. The college was affiliated to Periyar University, Salem and very recently has got the autonomous status. The college has been started with the vision of providing academic standards of the highest order with laudable idea of providing education for the rural youth in and around Tiruchengode and the neighbouring districts. The college has a team of experienced and efficient faculty. Undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are offered and many of the departments are recognized for research activity leading to M.Phil and Ph.D programmes. The college became an ISO 9001 – 2000 (E) certified institution during 2005.
About the Department of Management Studies
The Department is rated as “A” category business school by AIMA – IMRB survey of 2009. The Department is offering B.B.A., M.B.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D programmes. Faculty members of the department are specialized in Finance, Marketing, Human Resource, Operations, and International Business.
The Department has conducted a survey on ‘Police Image in Namakkal District’. Some of the faculty members are involved in consulting assignments. Knowledge management, Competency mapping, CRM in retailing, Recruitment process, Motivation techniques and Stress management are the priority areas of research. The plan of action of the Department for the next five years includes developing entrepreneurial ambitions among students, offering business consultancy and undertaking quality research beneficial to the society, business, and the Government.

Faculty members, research scholars, practitioners and students are invited to submit research papers on the main theme and/or any of the following sub-themes of the conference.

o Other issues related to the theme of the conference
Guidelines for Abstract and Full Papers
Original research work is expected from the faculty members, research scholars, students and marketing practitioners on the mentioned theme. The abstract (not exceeding 300 words) along with full paper (not exceeding 4000 words) should be sent on or before 14.2.2010. After the blind review, the author(s) would be intimated on the acceptance by 24.2.2010.
The author(s) are requested to send the abstract and full paper along with a soft copy (typed in MS Word) in CD or send it as an attachment copy in e-mail. The paper should be mailed to the Conference Convener in the specified e-mail id.
The following format has to be followed in sending papers:
Font type: Times New Roman; Single line spacing for abstract and two line spacing for full paper;
Font size: Paper Title – 14; Sub Title – 12, Authors name with designation – 10 in italics; Paragraph Text – 11;
Publication of the Conference Proceedings (Edited Book with ISBN number) by Excel Publishers
All papers accepted by the programme committee will be considered for presentation at the Conference. However, only selected papers will be published in the Conference proceedings (Edited book with ISBN number) to be published by Excel publishers and those whose papers are being published have to pay an additional amount of Rs.595/-
