Many upper elementary, middle, and high school teachers have not had the preparation needed to teach struggling adolescent readers. CORE's Adolescent Literacy Solutions Conference will provide a strong foundation for educators and administrators to begin to make informed instructional decisions and address the needs of this group of students.
Who Should Attend
All subject matter educators who teach adolescent students (intervention, English learner, and all content teachers), special education teachers, reading specialists, coaches, and administrators
Day 1: Active, Accountable Engagement Strategies Workshop, with Dr. Kate Kinsella
This workshop will focus on the pivotal role of oral language proficiency in adolescent reading and writing achievement and address the need for highly structured, accountable lesson engagement in upper grade elementary, middle, and high school classrooms. This practical and interactive session will incorporate research-informed and classroom-tested best practices to actively and accountably engage all students physically, intellectually, and verbally throughout lessons.
Day 2: Participants Choose Either a Vocabulary or a Comprehension Workshop (see descriptions on our website).
