A Managing Partner Forum survey in 2008 showed a disconnect between the skills and aspirations of the Finance Directors and the expectations of Managing Partners and the wider partnerships. Neither was satisfied!
Many substantial firms do not allow the Finance Director to sit on the Board – others do not even have a Finance Director – so how can they realistically expect their financial management to be of the requisite standard?
The same survey showed that Finance Directors fall down in the key areas of communication and presentation – so even their good advice can be misunderstood – or worse, ignored.
