The 1st EnvironmentAsia International Conference on
“Environmental Supporting in Food and Energy Security: Crisis and Opportunity”
23-26 March, 2011
Rama Garden Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand
Thai Society of Higher Education Institutes on Environment (TSHE)

Background and Rationale
The forces of democracy, technology, urbanization, increasing individual wealth, and an aggressive attitude towards nature seem to be directly related to the environmental crisis now being confronted in the world. An uncertain world environment has forced national leaders to re-assess medical support requirements. Global climate change is one of the greatest environmental, healths, social and economic threats. Changes in climate, disease patterns, epidemiology, coastal zone erosion, and natural disasters, and complex emergency events such as avian flu, SARS, dengue, malaria, and AIDS have emphasized the need for governments and the healthcare community to play a central role in helping to mitigate the impact of these threats. Current world population levels and increasing of arid areas caused by climate change are resulting in food shortages. In the past, acute food shortages have occurred in isolated regions of the world, but at no time in history have these shortages been of worldwide magnitude. Today, an estimated ½ billion people are malnourished and hungry. Food shortages, trans-boundary energy concerns, climate change impacts, biodiversity conservation, and deforestation are global in character. Such problems have now become major political issues and are subjects of international debate as they threaten the very survival of life on the planet. In order to address these multifaceted challenges in maintaining “Mother Earth”, the need for an international conference dedicated to energy and environmental issues was strongly felt.
The 1st EnvironmentAsia International Conference on “Environmental Supporting in Food and Energy Security: Crisis and Opportunity” is being conducted by the Thai Society of Higher Education Institutes on Environment (TSHE). The Conference aims to address the crisis and challenges we face, and seize the opportunity in emerging areas of energy, environment, and food security to achieve sustainable development. The 1st Environment Asia International Conference shall provide a forum for academicians, technologists, researchers, students, entrepreneurs, and policy makers worldwide to exchange ideas and emerging technologies in the fields of food, energy, and the environment. The Conference will attempt to evolve an agenda for environmental policies, and the identification of green technologies and their subsequent implementation for sustainable development. The Conference will take a multidisciplinary approach across various fields and perspectives through which the fundamental questions of sustainability can be addressed. Main speakers include some of the leading thinkers in the field, as well as numerous papers, colloquium and workshop presentations.
Tentative Sessions; the 9 topics are arranged as follows:
Session I: Natural Resource Conservation
Session II: Environmental Science and Technology
Session III: Environmental Management
Session IV: Environmental Policy and Public Participation
Session V: Environmental Sustainability and Development
Session VI: Geoinformatics for the Environment
Session VII: Environmental Education
Session VIII: Environmental Health
Session IX: Global Environmental Change and Disaster

The conference programmes will consist of the keynote lectures, panel discussions, plenary sessions and environmental and cultural excursions. The concurrent education and trade for environment exhibition will provide the opportunities to the participants to learn and update the new trends of environment from both public and private sectors. A series of oral and poster presentations on 9 topics related in the environment will be presented.
