This conference demonstrates how achieving Primary Stoke Certification can benefit hospitals in terms of quality, staff efficiency and cooperation, as well as reduction of LOS and therefore indirect costs. It focuses on the development of a stroke service line that does more than achieve "primary" designation and simply treat stroke quickly, but also works to consistently improve patient treatment times, foster interdepartmental communication, and reach out to the community to achieve better outcomes after the onset of stroke. The conference also teaches hospitals with the Primary Stroke Designation how to not only maintain their designation, but also how to optimize and improve their services.
Strokes are extremely prevalent in the US. With the Joint Commission's recognition of Primary Stoke Centers and the buzz around the "comprehensive" designation, running an efficient and cost effective stroke service line is becoming a growing focus of hospitals and healthcare providers nationwide. Hospital leaders realize the outstanding benefits of a well-developed and efficient stroke service line, including improved patient care, reduced costs and increased revenue, and improved hospital reputation.
