Annamalai University – A Profile
Divine Density, symbolized by the blissfully Dancing Deity of the Hall of Wisdom at Thillai, inspired the unequalled prince among the men of commerce Dr.Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiar of Chettinad to establish the Minakshi College in 1920. This bud blossomed into the multipetalled and enchanting lotus flower, Annamalai University in 1929. Since its inception Annamalai University has, in the course of these Eighty years of its development, manifested its vitality, adaptability to the new global trends and the capability to face challenges with courage and faith.
A philanthropist par excellence, Dr.Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiar, paid devoted attention to its growth and development during his tenure of Pro-Chancellorship. The Founder’s eldest son Dr.Rajah Sir Muthiah Chettiar adorned the Pro-Chancellorship from 1948-1984. Dr.M.A.M Ramaswamy who succeeded his father as Founder Pro-Chancellor with the qualities of leadership and a sense of devotion and commitment continues to show the same care and attention to the growth of this University.
The Present Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr.M.Ramanathan is a distinguished educationist, an eminent surgeon and discerning administrator. Annamalai University is a premier institution of higher education and research in the country with Nine Faculties.
The Rajah Muthiah Institute of Health Sciences, comprising the Rajah Muthiah Medical College, Institute of Nursing offers UG and PG on-campus programmes. The 1210 bedded hospital of the Institute serves the rural population. The University occupies an extensive area of more than 1000 acres.

Directorate of Distance Education
The Directorate of Distance Education, the crown of the University was established in 1979 then known as the Directorate of Correspondence Courses and Continuing Education. The Spectacular growth and achievements of the Directorate within a span of 31 years points to the meticulous planning and untiring work that have gone into its making. Under the dynamic leadership of Dr.S.B.Nageswara Rao, Director, DDE, the Distance Education courses are flourishing and it is credited with the largest enrollment in India. It offers 527 Programmes of Study under the regular stream. With a view to providing student support services and improving the quality of distance education, the Directorate has instituted its Study Centres in various places both in India and overseas to render service to the poor and needy.

About CSE Wing
The Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) Wing was established in the year 2003 and it offers various programmes at Post-Graduate and Under-Graduate levels such as MCA, M.Sc. (CS/SE/IT), and BCA, B.Sc. (CS/IT/VC). Totally it offers 58 programmes in computer science and its related disciplines. The Wing has well experienced and qualified faculty members. Presently there are 19 staff with different Specializations. Many of them are involved in research activities.
Scope of the Seminar
The main focus of the Seminar is to form a forum of researchers from academia and industry to explore and share the recent developments in Research Methods on Pattern Analysis and Its related areas.
