So how do we innovate?
In the context of the Australian Public Service, policy innovation can be challenging. Often, more immediate pressures can take precedence over our desire to improve processes, think 'outside the box' and develop more forward-looking, creative policy advice.
Policy innovation isn't impossible though. Throughout the public service there are departments improving their processes, coming up with new ideas and developing better policy.
The Policy Innovation Conference will feature a series of presentations from a selection of these departments as well as presentations from some of the leading thinkers in this space. In attending, delegates will be better placed to foster innovation in their own departments, enhance their own innovation performance and ultimately develop more innovative policy that will allow us to address the significant challenges that lay ahead.
What you will take away:
- An understanding of the importance of innovation in the current context
- How your department can build a culture of innovation
- What you and your department can do to enhance innovation performance
Who should attend?
Senior representatives from commonwealth, state/territory and local governments as well as academic institutions with responsibility for:
- Strategic Policy
- Stakeholder / Community Engagement
- Organisational Change
