For over 10 years, the University of Lund has collaborated with Ho Chi Minh City Law School and Ha Noi Law School in a project funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (“SIDA”) under the name “Strengthening Legal Education”. Assistance has also been provided by Suffolk School of Law and the Law Faculty of Nagoya University. The project is nearing its completion and has involved more than 200 Vietnamese teachers, who have been able to improve their teaching skills. Some 80 younger teachers have completed an International Master’s program, 11 of whom are on track to complete their PhD studies. The project can in itself be described as a transfer of technology and one which is fully in line with the requirements of the TRIPS agreement.

Technology transfer has also been a recurring theme in the education that has been provided. It seems therefore to be appropriate that the five universities involved, based as they are on three different continents, are now assembling to organize a conference on Sustainable Technology Transfer. To some extent the conference may be seen as a step from the provision of legal aid to an act of collaborative research in international trade. The focus will be on issues such as health, environment and energy in the technology transfer context. We are pleased to provide distinguished researchers and members of various international organizations from different parts of the world, all in an exciting environment in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The conference is open to all researchers interested in the field. The conference is free of charge. Non-speakers will have to shoulder own traveling costs and accommodation, whereas luncheons and dinners will be at the expense of the conference. Please forward your application by following the instructions below. We look forward to seeing you in Ho Chi Minh City this autumn.

On behalf of the Conference Organizers
