Description
The subject of «caring for the ill» affects us all at different times and in different ways. When it does, we all share a single hope: the best possible care. However, as the population continues to grow older, the number of chro¬nically ill is increasing faster than the resources available to treat them. We are threa¬tened with a dangerous imbalance: if we continue to follow traditional pathways, healthcare demand will soon greatly exceed what can be supplied. To continue providing our populations with top-quality care, our health systems have no choice but to forge new partnerships across institutional boundaries to prepare for future challenges.
Since its foundation in 2000, the INS has done just that. Strictly oriented toward real-world nursing needs, the Institute has established close coope¬ration between researchers and day-to-day practitioners. Interdisciplinary teams work together on new care models across the full range of health organizations to over¬come institutional and professional barriers and ease the burden of hos¬pitals – all with the shared goal of optimizing patient outcomes. During this conference, experts from diverse fields will report on the powerful, fundamental innovations that have arisen from these collaborations.
Based on a firm conviction that such collaborations are essential to long-term development of health systems everywhere, the INS will continue to open and explore new paths between departments, institutions, and disciplines, both nationally and internationally.
We look forward to welcoming you on November 24, 2010 to the Basel Congress Center.
