The 24th International Conference on the History of Cartography will be held from Sunday, July 10 to Friday, July 15, 2011 in Moscow – the capital of Russia. The conference venue is the Russian State Library (3/5, Vozdvizhenka). The general theme of the Conference is “Multiculturalism in the History of Map Making”. The following themes have been agreed by the organizers and Imago Mundi Ltd:
1.Cartographic Encounters: Exploration and Mapping
2.State, Maps, Society
3.Innovation and Tradition in Enlightenment Cartography
4.Mapping the Sacred
5.And any aspects of the history of cartography
On Saturday, July 9 two optional pre-conference meetings will take place in The International Centre-Museum by name of N.K. Roerich (3/5, Maly Znamensky). Several exhibitions will be organized during the conference. Two optional post-conference tours will be arranged : One day tour - Surroundings of Moscow, Three-days tour - Saint-Petersburg.
The deadline for proposals is October 25, 2010.
