HOX and TALE proteins play major roles in numerous aspects of patterning and differentiation of cells and organs. Some of the classical questions, such as the basis for their functional specificity, are starting to be unveiled, yet many questions remain open. These gene families have also turned out to be a very useful model for the study of exciting questions such as the impact of epigenetics on the control of gene expression, or the balance between cell proliferation and differentiation, issues that might lie at the origin of several tumors associated with HOX and TALE genes.

This workshop will bring together researchers working on different aspects of the biology of these genes with developmental biologists interested in mechanisms of patterning and differentiation of normal and diseased tissues.

The meeting will take place in Haifa, a peaceful and beautiful city in the north of Israel. The Dan Panorama Hotel is an outstanding venue, overlooking the breathtaking landscape of the Haifa Bay area and Bahá'í Gardens.
