This course intends to educate psychiatrists, pediatricians, general and family practitioners, psychologists, nurses, social workers, and interested school-based clinicians in the presentation, diagnosis, and current treatment options available in pediatric and adult Attention Deficient Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:

Recognize the presentation, diagnosis, comorbidity, neurobiology and current treatment options available for individuals with ADHD
Recognize the presentation of ADHD across the life span; risk factors related to the persistence of the disorder; and the neurobiology, heritability and genetic contributions of ADHD
Differentiate common co-occurring conditions, such as learning disabilities, substance use, depressive and bipolar disorders, tic disorders and anxiety
Define effective psychotherapies, including family-based, individual, cognitive-behavioral, integrative and multi-modal interventions
Compare and contrast the pharmacological interventions for children, adolescents and adults with ADHD, including both stimulant and non-stimulant compounds
