Putting the Learning into Service-Learning Experiences for First-Year Students
|Event Date/Time: Dec 08, 2010|
Service-learning courses can make positive improvements to student learning and retention, but only if they are intentionally designed and developed. The first-year student experience can and should include service-learning opportunities, but when planning these programs, it is crucial to keep in mind the developmental stages of this population.
Join us online to discover why having service-learning as a part of your first-year student experience is supported by recent persistence data and learn how to intentionally develop programs based on a first-year student's developmental stage.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This webcast is appropriate for schools with a service-learning component already in place and for those schools exploring the idea of developing a service-learning component within their student orientation and/or first-year student experience program. Participants will learn how to create courses, provide meaningful assignments, and choose service sites appropriate for first-year students.
