Course Description

This two-day course is designed for those employed by a business directly related to the upstream petroleum industry, or for anyone wanting insight into the business of petroleum exploration and exploitation.

Course participants will learn the evolution of the exploration and production business, from the first uses of petroleum to emerging technologies, with discussions of current events and their influence on the industry. Attendees will also gain valuable and practical knowledge of the fundamentals and key concepts that each of the exploration and exploitation team members must consider in order to effectively play their part in the upstream petroleum business.

The course content is delivered through lectures (PowerPoint presentations), case studies and illustrative examples of problem-solving, video clips, and industry articles or graphics.

Course participants will be encouraged to participate in group activities and discussions, and to ask relevant questions. The course is designed not only to provide a strong introduction to the exploration and production business, but also to raise awareness of our industry’s position and to give participants information resources which can be accessed after the course has been completed.
