One of the most common sources of client dissatisfaction is the way firms handle potential conflicts and confidentiality issues. Getting this wrong can not only destroy client relationships but also lead to regulatory or legal action and loss of reputation.

2011 will see a fundamental change to the nature of the regulatory regime with the introduction of a new SRA Handbook of regulations. The move will be to outcomes-focused regulation and a reliance on core principles which will define fundamental ethical and professional standards. The rules on conflicts and confidentiality will be re written as part of this process.

This masterclass will be led by two tutors, Chris Hugill and Geoff Harrison, with long experience of dealing with the practicalities of dealing with conflicts and the development of workable policies and procedures. Also they have taken an active part in the SRA consultation process relating to the new handbook.
