Description
The major challenge with this information age is that laws weren’t written with social media in mind – not even email, in fact. So legislation relating to IP, copyright, defamation, libel, plagiarism and so forth, has to be reinterpreted to apply to these new scenarios. UK law works on the basis of precedent – if a judge interprets a law one way once, this can be used as a defence or as an argument in a future case. So it is imperative that lawyers keep abreast of current developments to see how law will be interpreted in future cases.
