Overview
This 3-day course is designed for industry professionals seeking an introductory understanding of the unique aspects of international or cross-border oil and gas entity and property acquisition and sale transactions. The course will focus on the methods and skills required in valuation (both buy-side and sell-side), product price sensitivity and forecasting, finance method selection, structure and sourcing, due diligence and post-acquisition exploitation planning for upstream entities. The course features real-world cases considering proven and undeveloped reserves. Emphasis is given to introductory hedging concepts, negotiation strategies and due diligence requirements. The selection of and contracting with joint venture partners for existing properties and exploratory ventures is examined in detail. Spreadsheet modeling is used with supplied models for case studies by participant teams in competitive analysis and bidding. Particular emphasis is placed on the theory and practice of competitive bidding. Participants are expected to bring a PC or MAC laptop, loaded with Microsoft Excel to the course as notes are electronically provided.
